I am Dr. Marilyn Allison, a registered psychologist since 1990 and currently practicing in Victoria BC. I am interested in providing you with self-healing therapies. I believe that we have the power to heal ourselves, not only physically but also emotionally and mentally. I believe you are interested in improving yourself in different ways and you wish to optimize your abilities to improve your life. Sometimes you simply wish to be heard; you want a compassionate, empathetic ear. I can provide all of these.
Perhaps after you are heard, you will want to resolve some disturbing events you experienced, such as a difficult childhood. Maybe you have experienced emotional, verbal, physical, and/or sexual abuse either in childhood or later in life. Sometimes you may not recognize the disturbing or bothersome events as "abuses". You may think of those events as just "normal" experiences, however, you want to find a way to get rid of the disturbing emotions. Those bothersome emotions may include: anxiety, anger, sadness, depression, grief, shame, guilt, panic, regret, and/or disappointment that keep returning at unpredictable times. Maybe the troubling event was constant teasing or bullying at school and/or at work. Maybe the situation is such that you find yourself overwhelmed much of the time or that something is bothering you and you don't know what it is.
I use various therapies to help you resolve your issues and I invite you to explore these therapies in the pages that follow. I also invite you to read the section on Highly Sensitive People (HSP) as many of my clients tend to be HSPs.
Thank you for visiting my website. If you have further questions after exploring these pages, please call me. I would love to talk with you about any questions you may have.
